Karachi : Federal Interior Minister Rehman Malik says at least 11 high profile killers involved in target killings in Karachi were arrested in joint operation by police and law enforcement agencies in recent days.
Talking to newsmen after high level meeting on security situation in Sindh, particularly, in Karachi
Monday at Chief Minister House, he said concrete and indiscriminate measures were being taken against criminal elements.
He said since March 10, 2011 at least 154 persons were killed in Karachi and of these 43 were victims of target killings and others killed due to personal enmity. “We cannot divulge information at this stage on affiliations of those arrested involved in target killings. Most of them are hired killers.”
Malik said action will be taken jointly by law enforcement agencies and police against criminals
without any discrimination from midnight Monday-Tuesday. “Enough is enough. Action will be taken across the board. Political parties also at same time, need to keep eye on black sheeps in their ranks.” He felt media needs to adopt a positive approach to curb terrorism and help government insteadof glorifying those involved in heinous crimes.
Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah lauded Rangers, Police and Interior Ministry on extending all help to provincial government to check lawlessness. Later Rehman Malik and Chief Minister had meeting with MQM delegation led by Faisal Sabzwari and discussed law and order situation.
