Malik says US should respect Pak sovereignty; says stopping of drone attacks voice of nation

Federal Interior Minister Rehman has said that the United States should respect the sovereignty of Pakistan, adding that the stopping of drone attack immediately is the voice of the nation.

Talking to media after he visited headquarters of Frontier Constabulary here, the federal minister said Afghan president and interior minister should strictly monitor the infiltrations of terrorists into Pakistan.
Malik reiterated his advice for Punjab Chief Minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif to take name of President Asif Ali Zardari with respect, adding that Shahabz should improve governance in a province which has population of 60% of the country.
He said that Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leadership is making all hue and cry only to cover up its corruption, adding that the corruption scandals in Punjab are currently being investigated
Malik alleged that PML-N was involved in corruption when it started a campaign of ‘qarz utaro, mulk sanwaro’ , when they were in power. Loans of the big factories were paid off through the Bank of Punjab, he said. The investigations of these scams are in process, the interior minister said.
The strategy, he informed, to grapple with the menace of terrorism in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has been put on anvil.
Claiming saboteurs are entering Pakistan from Afghanistan through Mohmand and Bajaur agencies, the federal minister Malik sought the Afghan government to take up steps to stem these terrorists.
Replying a query, he said the US will have to capitulate at all costs to the recommendations of the Parliament for the restoration of the bilateral ties.
Speaking on sacrifices of the police in the war on terror, Malik commended the efforts of the police and said that police officials who were engaged in the fight with the militants are the real ‘mujahids’.
Malik said that there are speculations that the chief of banned Lashkar-i-Islam (LI), Mangal Bagh has been killed but these speculations might be wrong; investigations are underway to find out the truth.
Interior Minister said that terrorists will meet the same fate as Mangal Bagh. He said that the terrorists should lay down their arms and should present their demands, adding that the terrorists could not fight with the state.
He said that seizure of arms which were smuggled from Kandahar highlight that foreign elements are involved in Pakistan’s instability. Malik stressed over strict border security to counter such threats.
Giving his views on other national issues, Rehman Malik said that parliament is supreme and President Zardari is army’s supreme commander; therefore, there is no conflict with the army or judiciary.
Malik again announced to confirm the contract employees of the NADRA, adding that the final announcement would be made by Prime Minister Gilani.
During his visit, Interior Minister paid tribute to martyred FC Commander Siffat Ghayoor and praised security officials s valour in war against terrorism. SANA
