Development of AJK & welfare of its people top most priority of present govt: PM Gilani

Prime Minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani has said that development of Azad Kashmir and the welfare of its people is the top most priority of the present government. 

He was addressing a public meeting after inaugurating expansion project of Mirpur University and Bhimber Rebroadcast station of Pakistan Television in Mirpur here on Monday. 
He said special focus has been given to the reconstruction and rehabilitation of infrastructure damaged by the natural calamities including earthquake and floods. Necessary funds have been provided for that purpose. 
Prime Minister Gilani said majority of  projects mostly health and education related  have been completed  in the quake affected areas of Azad Kashmir while others are at various stages of completion. 
He said the people of Pakistan and Azad Kashmir share deep historical, geographical and religious bonds. The love between the two runs through the bloods of the people and this love and broterhood will continue to grow in future as well. 
The Prime Minister said Pakistan Peoples Party was founded on the name of Kashmir cause and it will continue to extend political, moral and diplomatic support for the just cause of Kashmiris. 
On the issue of load shedding in Azad Kashmir, the prime minister directed the Ministry of Water and Power to take steps for the resolution of the problem. 
Emphasizing on the promotion of science and technological education, Prime Minister Gilani expressed the confidence that the youth will equip themselves with the contemporary trends for the socio economic uplift of the country. 
On the occasion, the Prime Minister announced fifty to sixty million rupees for the medical college in Poonch which has been completed with the assistance of United Arab Emirates.  He also gave cheque worth ten million rupees for the construction of hostel in Mirpur University of Science and Technology. 
He directed the Information Minister to shift    Radio Station  Tarar Khal from Rawalpindi to Poonch to meet the education and information needs of the area.
Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani has announced a number of developmental projects to accelerate socio-economic development in Azad Kashmir.
Addressing a public meeting in Mirpur after laying foundation stone of a bridge there, he said in fulfillment of the demand of the people an airport would be constructed in the city.
He said the promise for the airport was made by Shaheed Benazir Bhutto and the present Government would realize her commitment.  
The Prime Minister asked the AJK Government to provide land and the Government of Pakistan would develop an IT University in Kotli.
He expressed the confidence that establishment of Mirpur University of Science and Technology would also help galvanize faculties of the youth of the area while Benazir Bhutto Medical College would also be a step towards that direction.
The Prime Minister lauded the role of media for the cause of democracy and announced a donation of ten million for Mirpur Press Club.
He said rebroadcast station of PTV would go a long way in meeting information and entertainment needs of the people of Azad Kashmir.
The Prime Minister said headquarters of Tarar Khal Radio Station would also be shifted to Azad Kashmir.
Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani said the PPP being an ideological party would never betray its committed workers.  He announced to appoint Aslam Gill, who lost Senate elections from Punjab, as Special Assistant to the Prime Minister with the status of Minister of State. 
The Prime Minister also reiterated pledge of the PPP Government to continue to extend moral, political and diplomatic support to the just cause of the Kashmiri people.
 Earlier, in his address Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir Ch. Abdul Majeed said record developmental activities were undertaken in Azad Kashmir during the four year of PPP government in Pakistan.
He paid tributes to Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani for inaugurating a number of development projects in the territory.
He said the Prime Minister assumed charge during most difficult period in the history of Pakistan and provided the required leadership to take the country forward successfully.
   
Minister for Kashmir Affairs Mian Manzoor Ahmad Wattoo said his Ministry was working hard to resolve problems of the people of Azad Kashmir.
   
He said the largely attended public meeting was a proof that the PPP was the most popular party in Azad Kashmir.
   
The Minister held out an assurance to people of Azad Kashmir to continue extending every possible assistance in accelerating progress and development of the state. SANA
