Supreme Court sets Jan. 10 deadline for NRO implementation

Islamabad: The Supreme Court on Tuesday set January 10 dedaline for the government to implement the National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO) verdict.

Taking a stern action, the apex court directed the government to implement NRO verdict.
The court also ordered NAB to inquire appointment of Adnan Khwaja and Ahmed Riaz. Justice Asif Saeed Khosa is heading five-member bench into NRO implementation case.
During the hearing Justice Asif Saeed asked NAB prosecutor general whether the NAB would investigate the issue of appointing Adnan Khuwaja as MD Oil and Gas Development Company(OGDC), or the apex court oversee the issue. The judge said that how come a matriculation pass and convicted person was appointed as MD. He also said that court was giving last chance to concerning authorities to implement the NRO verdict.
"If court order is not implemented, the court will not issue any order instead it will take action," he ruled. NAB prosecutor said the department could only investigate the matters pertaining to wrong use of authority.
Supreme Court has ordered Prosecutor General and Secretary Law to appear before court in person during next hearing. A five-member bench of the Supreme Court of Pakistan on Tuesday resumed hearing into NRO implementation case. Online
