Karachi: Chief of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Maulana Fazlur Rahman has said
that Pakistan has been turned into security instead of a welfare state.
Addressing a massive Islam Zindabad rally adjacent to Quaid’s
masouleum in Karachi Friday night he said that those studying in
seminaries are labelled as militants.
Saying that attempts are
being made to force the religious segments of the society to wage a war
he added that poor Americans are demanding the just interest-free
financial system of Islam at Wall Street, New York.
We are
neither against Pakistan nor against the US, he said, adding that if
change could come in Egypt and Turkey why it couldn’t things cal also be
changed in Pakistan.
Labour unions, he said, should not only be
given a permanent role in the economic and financial system of Pakistan
but the labourers should be made partners in profit.
The JUI chief said that Shariat should not be demanded on gun-point.
He also demanded compensation should be paid to the heirs of the victims of target-killing in Karachi.
The
US is facing defeat in Afghanistan today, he said adding that empty
slogan like food, shelter and clothes has given nothing to the people.
Earlier, Hundreds of thousands of people thronged Baghe Jinnah Karachi,
the venue of the Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl (JU-F) rally, a month after
Pakistan Tehreek Insaf (PTI) held a massive public show at the same.
People
from across the city and interior Sindh began filling the Baghe Jinnah
near Quaid’s mausoleum shortly after Friday prayer , holding party flags
and chanting slogans Allaho Akbar (God is great).
According to
reports, a large number of seminary students also turned up to attend
the rally titled as, “Islam Zinda Bad Conference.” Some analysts opined
that the JUI rally outnumbered the PTI rally as far as participants are
concerned, but a large numbers of participants of JUI rally were
seminaries’ students. Online
