PM Gilani rejects speculation of martial law in country

Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani has rejected speculations about martial law, any undemocratic move, caretaker government or the government of technocrats in the country.

Responding to points raised by Leader of the Opposition Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan in National Assembly on Monday, he said media, civil society, political parties and the world would not accept any such move and therefore, we should not do anything to provide any opportunity to derail the democratic system.
The Prime Minister said there could be only one system in the country
and that is parliamentary democracy in accordance with the
constitution. He said we want democracy and it is irrelevant who is in
power.
He said people of Pakistan, workers and leaders have rendered
great sacrifices for democracy and it is our responsibility to
safeguard this system.
The Prime Minister appreciated statements of PML(N) leader Mian Nawaz Sharif and leader of the opposition Ch. Nisar Ali Khan that the
opposition would oppose any undemocratic move.
About gas shortage in Rawalpindi, the Prime Minister asked the
opposition to come out with an adjournment motion and he would depute a Minister for comprehensive briefing so that there is no ambiguity on
the issue.
Regarding point raised by Makhdoom Javed Hashmi about wrong
information about his medical expenditures, the Prime Minister said he
would go for an inquiry and if the reply given in the National
Assembly was found incorrect then he would offer apology. SANA
