Asima Jehangir terms memo verdict as blackest day of judiciary

Former Supreme Court bar association president and council of former ambassador in US Hussain Haqqani in memo case, Asima Jehangir has termed the supreme court verdict on memo case as blackest day of judiciary, said that this is the decision of the establishment court and not the court for which the masses had struggled.

Talking to media persons after the announcement of the Supreme Court in memo issue, she said that it is the price of struggle which was done for the independent judiciary in the country, adding that the court given more to the petitioners than the request of the petitioners.
She said that it is not certain that the government would remain or not, adding that the verdict of the court is disappointing because she had hole that there would be one or two dissenting voices in the case.
She said that the review petition would be filed after receiving the detailed judgment, adding that she has regrets over the struggled done for the independence of judiciary.
She said that I am ready to face contempt of court, adding that I am ready to go in jail for the supremacy of the law, adding that besides differentiating with the verdict it is her responsibility to respect the institutions and accept the court verdicts.
She said that there is no ray of hope in the verdict, adding that every verdict of the court is public property and she has right of giving opinion on the verdict.
She said that the civilian authority is under the military authority in Pakistan, adding that in the decision the national security was over ruled by fundamental rights.
She said that the petitioners would regret over the verdict one day it is the prayer of a woman, adding that I would continue informing the masses how the rights of them are being compromised by the highest court of the country. SANA
