President Asif Ali Zardari was accorded a very warm welcome when
he arrived in Istanbul for talks with the Turkish President and attend
6th trilateral summit with Presidents of Turkey and Afghanistan.
He was greeted at Ataturk International airport by Governor of
Istanbul Huseiyn Avni Mutlu, Pakistan’s Ambassador to Turkey Muhammad
Haroon Shaukat and Turkish Ambassador to Pakistan Babar Hazlan.
The President’s delegation includes Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani
Khar, Minister for Interior Rehman Malik, Defence Minister Ahmad
Mukhtar, Chairman Board of Investment Saleem Mandviwala and Governor
State Bank of Pakistan Yaseen Anwar.
On Monday the President will have indepth discussions with his
Turkish counterpart on the entire gamut of bilateral ties with focus on
strengthening trade and economic cooperation. They will also exchange
views on regional situation and the trilateral summit on Afghanistan to
be held today (Tuesday).
The Turkish President will also host a working dinner for President
Asif Zardari and Afghan President Hamid Karzai today (Tuesday).
Meanwhile, the 6th trilateral summit would focus on peace and
reconciliation in Afghanistan and economic cooperation among the three
countries. The leaders would also hold bilateral meetings while
Interior Ministers and senior defence, security and commerce officials
would also hold separate trilateral meetings to discuss different issues
and projects. SANA
