Priorities set by govt hurt democracy: Nawaz Sharif

ISLAMABAD: PML-N Quaid Nawaz Sharif said Friday that priorities set by the present government hurt democracy.

The PML Quaid while addressing a news conference about the points he raised during Thursday’s All Parties Conference (APC) said if parliamentary resolutions were implemented then the country would not be in this position.
Stating that the country would be united in the face of any external threat Nawaz said it was time that we did some “soul searching and started asking tough questions”. Sharif added that it was naive to think that there was no truth to accusations being leveled against Pakistan.
Speaking on Pakistan’s economic dependence Sharif said this was enslaving the country to foreign powers. He said economic slavery has turned into a political slavery.
The PML-N chief said it was impossible for one party to solve the problems being faced by the country and that a joint effort would be required. He urged the government to refrain from corruption and honor judiciary’s decisions to improve its governance.
He maintained that the time had come to break the begging bowl.  Announcing his party’s 10-year support for national agenda, he criticized the government for rampant corruption.
The PML-N chief again criticized President Asif Ali Zardari for writing an article in an American newspaper immediately after May 2 Abbottabad raid. The former premier refused to divulge APC details. Online
