A 20 member delegation of Faisalabad Bar Association headed by its President, Mr. Fawad
Ahmed Cheema and comprising other office bearers and members called on
Hon’ble Chief Justice of Pakistan Mr. Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry
on Wednesday in the Supreme Court Building, Islamabad.
Welcoming the delegation, his lordship admired the role of legal
fraternity in Lawyers’ Movement in which they stood firm during the
judicial crises and struggled hard to bring rule of law in the society
through peaceful efforts.
CJP said that the movement was supported by almost all segments of
society because it was the struggle for the principles, adding that the
Faisalabad Bar along with other legal fraternity from all over the
country, struggled constantly during the days of movement, to bring Rule
of Law, Constitutionalism and Independence of Judiciary in society.
Their dream materialized and Independent Judiciary was restored and
the movement of the lawyers is matchless and beyond compare in the
judicial history of our country as well as other countries of the world
CJ said.
The members of Bar appreciated CJ’s struggle and sacrifice during the
days of the movement. They also discussed with the Chief Justice,
issues and matters of interest to the legal/judicial fraternity and
apprised his lordship that due to non establishment of Lahore High
Court, Faisalabad Bench great difficulty is being faced by the members
of the Bar.
Further, they also requested his lordship for shifting of Banking
Court and Anti Corruption Court in the vicinity of Sessions Court due to
security problems.
The members of delegation thanked the Chief Justice and assured their
full support and co-operation to bring about improvements in the
dispensation of justice. They said that the public have reposed great
confidence in the judiciary. SANA
