US pressure due to failure in Afghanistan: Sherpao

Islamabad: Former Federal Minister Aftab Ahmed Khan Sherpao has said that USA is exerting pressure on Pakistan to cover her failure in Afghanistan as the American presidential elections are approaching next year.

He was talking exclusively with Online here on Wednesday. He said that the foreign policy of Pakistan is not clear. Pak - America relations began to worsen when ‘red lines’ were not drawn between both sides in the war against terrorism.
“Our track record regarding implementation of decisions is not very good. After the blames leveled by USA, the situation has been deteriorated to a large extent and if the decisions would not be followed, it could harm the country”, he added by saying that whenever any big incident takes place in Afghanistan, America puts pressure on Pakistan.
Sherpao was of the view that the killing of Burhan-ud-Din Rabbani caused an immense dent in the peace efforts in Afghanistan. On one side USA is busy in negotiation with Taliban while on the other hand, she wants to take action against their group, Haqqani network.
He said that peace will not succeed in Afghanistan in prevailing circumstances, as it is not possible without taking all the stakeholders present there on board. Online
