All diplomatic channels are open: Salman Bashir

ISLAMABAD: Foreign Secretary Salman Bashir has said that all the diplomatic channels are open to US and are heading towards right direction.

He said this while addressing a book-launching ceremony of a Chinese writer book and later talking to media men here Wednesday.
He said Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar has given an important policy statement in New York. Pakistan wanted positive and constructive relations with the US, he added.
He underlined that Pakistan was a responsible country and was fully alive to its responsibilities. “We want an atmosphere of peace and security prevail in all neighbouring countries. We want peace and stability in the region. We are endeavouring to play our role with reference to Afghanistan”, he remarked. Expansion in cooperation and friendship with China was cornerstone of Pakistan foreign policy, he observed.
Addressing the ceremony, he said Pak-China friendship was matchless and it stands immortalized. “We are eager to further bolstering economic ties with China”, he added.
Lauding the literary effort made by Chinese author Salman Bashir said he was friend of Pakistan.
Former foreign secretary Akram Zaki said that Pakistan’s romance with US had always remained victim to bitterness. If we accept US pressure then it will mount more pressure on us, he cautioned. Media should more focus on Pak-China relations than US, he stressed.
Mushahid Hussain Syed said that there was complete unanimity of views between Pakistan political leadership and army with regard to China. He held China had always supported Pakistan openly in every critical juncture of time. Online
