Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani has decided to call an all-parties conference (APC) in the wake of Pakistan’s tense ties with the United States during the ensuing week.
Prime Mister Gilani contacted the national leadership and took them
into confidence in wake of US threats; meanwhile the premier vowed to
take on board national leadership regarding the matters of national
sovereignty.
Meanwhile Prime Minister Gilani has asked Foreign Minister Hina
Rabbani Khar to cut short her US visit and immediately return to
Pakistan.
The Prime Minister held telephone talks with all national leaders and discusses Pak-US ties.
Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUIF) leader Maulana Fazlur Rehman held meting
with the prime minister and asked the prime minister to not scare from
the US threats; meanwhile Fazal shows satisfaction over the response of
government regarding the US allegations.
According to the sources the meeting of Fazal continued fro one and
half hour; meanwhile Fazal also backed the proposal of summoning APC
over the US allegations.
Prime Minister Gilani contacted Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N)
President Mian Nawaz Sharif, Leader of the Opposition in National
Assembly Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief
Altaf Hussain and Awami National Party (ANP) chief Asfandayar Wali Khan.
The prime minister also contacted Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid’s
(PML-Q) Chaudhry Shujaat, Jamat-e-Islami’s head Syed Munwar Hassan and
Jamiat-e-Ulema Islam – Fazal (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazalur Rehman,
Senator Slaim Saifullah Khan, Imran Khan, Aftab Sherpao, Maulana Ans
Nurani and Sarwat Ejaz Qadri.
The Prime Minister discussed the latest political situation with the
political leaders and took them into confidence regarding Pakistan’s
stance over the United States’ accusations against the Inter Services
Intelligence (ISI).
According to the spokesman of the PM house the prime minister took
the national leadership into confidence regarding the US allegations;
meanwhile the national leadership stressed upon the evolving of
national consensus regarding the matter.
According to the sources the foreign minister and other institutions
of the country would brief the APC regarding the current situation.
Meanwhile Prime Minister Gilani also telephoned President Asif Ali
Zardari and informed him about the contacts made with the leadership of
the country.
Prime minister informed the president about the agenda of the
proposed APC; meanwhile they agreed that the military and civil
institutions would brief the political leadership regarding the current
situation arising after the allegations of Leon Panetta and Mike Mullen.
He has welcomed suggestions by the political leadership to strengthen Pakistan’s political position in this regard.
Asfandyar Ali assured the prime minister that his party would stand
by the government on every step in the benefits of the nation. SANA
