CJCSC stresses upon addressing irritants in Pak-US relationship resulting in extremely complex situation

General James N. Mattis Commander US CENTCOM called on General Khalid Shameem Wynne Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC). Both leaders discussed various matters of mutual interests and emerging geo – strategic situation in the region.
According to the press release issued by the ISPR, the CJCSC expressed his concern about the negative statements emanating from US.
He stressed upon addressing the irritants in the relationship which are a result of an extremely complex situation.
He reiterated that Pakistan armed Forces are committed to achieving enduring peace in the region which will only be possible through mutual trust and cooperation.
Meanwhile according to the statement issued by the US Embassy it is said that the CENTCOM Commander Gen. James Mattis, the Commander of US Central Command, visited Islamabad to meet with Gen. Ashfaq Kayani, the Chief of the Pakistan Army, and Gen. Khalid Wynne, the Chief of Staff of the Pakistan Armed Forces.
Gen. Mattis meets and talks routinely with both generals to discuss US-Pakistan military activities, the coalition campaign in Afghanistan and broader regional issues. The generals had candid discussions about the current challenges in the US-Pakistan relationship.
However, Gen. Mattis also emphasized the vital role the Pakistan military plays in international security efforts to protect the Pakistani and Afghan people and the need for persistent engagement among the militaries of the US, Pakistan and other states in the region. SANA
