Aasma Jehangir lauds courageous stance of Mian Nawaz Sharif

ISLAMABAD: The president Supreme Court Bar Association has lauded Mian Nawaz Sharif’s courageous stance regarding judicial commission over Abbottabad incursion by American forces, (yet) insisting that the judicial commission proposed by him should include politicians.

Addressing an event in connection with the May12 Black Day, she said that the policies of incumbents, which were detrimental for honor, lives and property of masses, would never be tolerated, and also stressed/vowed that Apex Court should not be politicized.
She said that besides lawyers’ fraternity, the masses also sacrificed their lives, during the incident, in which the Provincial and federal government were both equally involved, and were equally responsible for the massacre.
She expressed her strong affirmations to ensure to hold strict accountability of all those responsible for the carnage, and stressed that the enquiry tribunal should be re-activated.
She also announced that two lawyers of Balochistan were being detained by intelligence agencies, since many months, and said that IG-FC had been told to release these two lawyers immediately; as their deadbodies would not be received.
Addressing the event the former president of Bar, Aitazaz Ahsan said that 12th May was the day when (the then) President Musharraf ushered in a conspiracy against judiciary, in which he was abetted by negative elements of Karachi, who were still active in the ruling coalition; citing a particular recently inducted federal minister being responsible for blocking the possible routes of Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry with containers.
Speaking on the occasion, the vice chairman of Pakistan Bar Council Latif Afridi held the detrimental policies of the incumbents being responsible for killings of more than 70,000 citizens of Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa, and more than 50,000 households suffered. He held the very detrimental policies of incumbents being responsible for masses losing faith in Armed Forces and Statehood.
Ali Ahmad Kurd expressed his strong determination to raise voice against discriminations and injustice, whenever and wherever observed, and also demanded immediate probe of 12th May 2007 carnage, something which has always fell on deaf ears. Online
