Supreme Court issues three days deadline in Railway corruption case

Islamabad: The Supreme Court of Pakistan on Tuesday directed the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) to ensure the arrest of accused involved in Pakistan railways corruption case within three days.

Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry presided the three members bench during the proceeding of the case. The court also issued directive for the reinstatement, Shafiq Ur Rehman as a Sectary board.
The CJ remarked that Shafiq Ullah’s transfer was an attempt to avert him from the NAB and the court .
Replying to the CJ remarks about the encroachments on the railway’s land in Karachi , the Railway’s Director said that the Pakistan Railways recovered 757 Acer of land from the encroachers, adding that anti encroachments operation is in progress in the country , including Karachi.
Meanwhile, Additional prosecutor general informed the SC that the reference against chief controller purchase would be registered soon and he is handed over to the concerned investigation agency under judicial remand.
The court asked the Railway to submit its detail report, the court adjourned the proceeding of the case till March 16. Online
