I need not vote of confidence: PM Gilani

Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani has said that he does not need vote of confidence, adding that ‘We haven’t come here to seek help against the NRO and the army.

Addressing the National Assembly session on Friday he said if the nation thinks that it cannot wait for too long five years, then a constitutional amendment should be brought to shrink the term in view of the impatience of the nation. Everybody should respect the Constitution, he urged.
PM Gilani said that we had nt said to any on that he may save us from army, adding that we would go to the masses in difficult time and we would not beg rule from any one.
He said that kings parties die with its kings, adding that NA has elected him as PM unanimously. He said that no one is talking about creator of the NRO, who is announcing to return back. Protection of the parliament is unanimous responsibility.
Prime Minister has categorically stated that the resolution moved in support of the democratic set up is not against any institution including the Army and the Judiciary.
He said voting on the resolution will be held on Monday with consensus and respecting the proposed amendments of the opposition parties.
He said the resolution has been brought to strengthen the democracy and democratic institutions in the country.
Reacting on the criticism of the opposition leader over the government policies the Prime Minister said that all the political forces should join hands for the protection of the system.
He emphatically stated that only the Parliament and no other institution has the prerogative to decide about the tenure of the government. He said if the opposition parties wanted to reduce its term they may bring amendments in the Constitution.
He said the Constitution is a secret document and all the institutions should fully respect it.
The Prime Minister ruled out the impression that the current emergency session has been summoned to get support of the political parties against any institution. He said we respect the institutions and are not against any of them.
The Prime Minister said that it was for the first time that we made the armed forces accountable to the Parliament. He said the democracy should not suffer because of our mistakes and it should continue to function. Online
