Government taking serious steps to overcome energy crisis: PM Gilani

Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani has said that the government is taking serious steps to overcome the energy crisis in the country. 

Inaugurating the Kunar Pasakhi gas project near Jamshoro on Thursday, he said several projects in this regard have been launched during the last few years to overcome the electricity and gas loadshedding. 
Mr. Gillani announced that with the help of the people and the blessings of Almighty Allah all the problems would be addressed the the journey towards a developed Pakistan would continue.
The Prime Minister said that he has issued directives to the concerned ministries for the rapid completion of Thar Coal Project which would ultimately help to reduce our energy crisis and would also help in our economic development.
He said the country is rich in natural resources and by utilizing them we can overcome the energy shortage once and for all. 
He said the Awami Government is working as per the vision of Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Shaheed Benazir Bhutto and is endeavouring to move the country on fast track development mission.
He directed that the far flung areas of Sindh and Balochistan provinces should be provided with gas facility to bring them into the main stream of development.
He vowed to overcome all the crises and provide basic amenities such as water, gas and electricity to the people at their doorsteps. 
The prime minister said that inauguration of Kunar Pasakhi project will also help to a great deal to meet the gas shortfall and provide relief to the masses. 
Speaking on the occasion, Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources Dr Asim Hussain said that initally the Kunar Pasakhi project will add 100 million million cubic feet of gas to the system while its capacity will be enhanced by 282 million million cubic feet by the end of next year. He said 1.49 billion rupees has been spent on the project.
The Minister said that a plan of action is being prepared to overcome the energy shortage on sustainable basis. 
He said several gas projects are in different stages of completion and 2.8 billion cubic feet of gas will be added to the system by the end of next year which will help overcome the gas shortage.  SANA
