Govt to close Shamsi Airbase: Mukhtar

ISLAMABAD: Federal defense minister Ahmad Mukhtar has expressed strong and final resolve of government to close down (American operated) Shamsi Airbase.

Talking to media in Islamabad on Wednesday, he also announced that even drones would not be allowed to take-off from the base from 11th Dec.
The defense minister said that government was resolved to take strict measures over the issue, as opposed to its postponements of any decisions in past, as NATO’s unprovoked attack on Pakistani check post was an attack on Pakistan’s sovereignty.
He also resolved that unless a formal apology was tendered by USA, and accepted by masses, there would be no question of opening the NATO supply line. He said that NATO had/ and could use other options of much more impassable terrains, which it was free to opt for.
Replying to a question, he said that Pakistan was definitely not engaged in any war against America, yet all decision would be taken according to many other options available.
“All accords signed with America could also be reviewed “, he assured, while also announcing that complete report regarding the American volatile, unprovoked attack on Pakistani check post would be received by 15th Dec, and all decison would be taken, accordingly.
ONLINE also reports that defense minister Ahmad Mukhtar has also accused former foreign minister/ (former) PPPP leader Shah Mahmood Qurieshi of using unethical language, heeding Qurieshi to avoid lying publicly, just for the sake his (Qurieshi’s) own ego.
He said that since Qurieshi took himself as a big leader of Pakistan, he should not harm his (Qurieshi’s) own Country.
The defense minister also reiterated government’s strong resolve to maintain the sovereignty and integrity of Nation at all costs, without any compromise whatsoever. Online
