Pakistan has said that it favors a peaceful, stable and progress oriented
Afghanistan. The peace and stability of Afghanistan is necessary for
the stability and development of Pakistan. The assassination of
Burhanuddin Rabbani harmed the efforts of peace in Afghanistan.
This was said by national and foreign experts of Afghanistan while
addressing to an international seminar on transition in Afghanistan:
Post-Exit Scenario arranged jointly by Islamabad Policy Research
Institute (IPRI) and Hanns Seidel Foundation (HSF).
Additional Secretary Foreign Affairs Alamgir Babar said that Pakistan
is supporting the efforts of peace in Afghanistan and working jointly
with Afghanistan and international community for this purpose, adding
the assassination of Burhanuddin Rabbani badly harmed the peace efforts
in Afghanistan.
Alamgir said that for the transfer of power in Afghanistan, it is
necessary to include the militants in the government writ and increase
the strength of security forces to control the security situation of
Afghanistan.
He said it the ECO members along with regional cooperation also
agreed to progress the peace efforts in Afghanistan, adding the
cooperation of international community is necessary for the betterment
of situation in Afghanistan.
He said Pakistan is working with trilateral commission of Pak, US and Afghanistan for the peace and stability.
He said we are also working with four countries including Russia,
Tajikistan and Afghanistan commission for the peace in Afghanistan.
The former ambassador of Sweden for Pakistan and Afghanistan and the
expert of Afghan affairs Ann Welcanz said that NATO forces in 2001
entered in Afghanistan for security, good governance and development but
ill-fated they totally focused on military operation while lack of
communication between the international community due to which they are
unable to understand the thinking of the people of the region.
