Islamabad: The Chairperson of Benazir Income Support Programme,
Farzana Raja has said that Pakistan and UAE enjoy historic and time
tested friendship. Both the countries have ties in various economic
fields, however, cooperation in the social sector needs to be enhanced
further.
She was talking to Essa Abdulla Al Basha Al Noaimi, UAE
Ambassador in Pakistan during a meeting here at BISP Secretariat where
he met her on Friday. She briefed the visiting ambassador about the
details of various initiatives taken by BISP and informed him that the
socio-economic conditions of millions of poor families are being
improved through these efforts. She said that the programme has adopted
transparent mechanisms in all its initiatives.
She underlined
the need of enhanced mutual cooperation in the social sector while
discussing her forthcoming visit of UAE. She said that during her visit
she will have interaction with UAE high officials and the private sector
regarding mutual cooperation in the social sector.

Al Basha Al Noaimi took keen interest in the working of BISP and
appreciated the efforts of BISP regarding poverty alleviation especially
reaching out more than 6 million families within a short span of time.
