Islamabad : President Asif Ali Zardari and Afghan President Hamid
Karzai have reviewed bilateral relations and the regional situation, it
was reported here.
The two leaders met in Tajikistan capital Dushanbe on the sidelines
of the third Quadrilateral Summit of Tajikistan, Pakistan, Afghanistan
and Russia.
Zardari and Karzai exchanged views on the situation in Afghanistan,
geo-strategic scenario after the withdrawal of the US troops from
Afghanistan, bilateral cooperation in fighting the menace of
narco-trade, extremism and terrorism.
Zardari, who arrived in Dushanbe Thursday, assured Karzai that
Pakistan was supportive of the Afghan-led peace process, reported
Associated Press of Pakistan.
He said that Pakistan was committed to supporting Afghanistan in
restoring peace and strengthening its institutional capabilities.
The Pakistani president said that his country wishes to see a
stable, peaceful and prosperous Afghanistan which was also in its own
interest. IANS
