Govt wants to take along all political parties on national issues: PM Gilani

ISLAMABAD  : Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani said the government believes in the policy of reconciliation and wants to take along all the political parties on national issues. The government has been and would in future as well take all the parliamentarians who are elected representatives of the people into confidence on important national matters including the Abbottabad incident.
The Prime Minister was talking to a delegation of ANP Parliamentarians
and Senators at the PM’s House here on Friday.
The Prime Minister said that Pakistan is fighting the war against terrorism in its own interest as we want to ensure peace and security of our people. Pakistan, he said would continue to cooperate with the international community to fight terrorism in all its forms and manifestation but want to be treated as partners with complete trust.
The Prime Minister appreciated the role of the people of Khyber Pukhtoonkhawa and FATA in the fight against terrorism and militancy. The entire nation, he said, is united that we have to get rid of this menace in order to improve the standard of living of the people and bring about development and prosperity.
The Prime Minister apprised the delegation that he would soon be performing the ground breaking ceremony of Khushhaal Ghar Bridge. He also assured that the Government also intends to initiate work on Chashma Right Bank uplift canal which would irrigate D.I. Khan and beyond. The Prime Minister also assured the delegation that requisite funds for projects/schemes in the province of Khyber Pukhtoonkahwa nearing completion would be released at the earliest.
The Leader of the ANP delegation while reciprocating the opening remarks of the Prime Minister said that ANP had always supported the Government and would continue to support on all policy matters as a coalition partner. The current situation, he added, demands greater cooperation among all the political parties particularly the coalition
partners.
The members of the delegation appreciated the policy statement given by the Prime Minister in the National Assembly and the Senate and expressed determination to uphold the dignity and sovereignty of the country.
The delegation emphasized for release of funds for early completion of development projects/schemes which are nearing completion. The delegation also stressed upon initiating work on the construction of Munda Dam as well as some other small dams in the province. SANA
