A KESC release here Friday said change of weather has further aggravated the situation, resulting in rapid increase in power demand. Industrial areas normally exempted will also undergo four-hour load shedding.
New timings will be effective March 11. KESC says at the present post winter season, it requires at least 170 MMCFD of gas, as last year, to carry out normal load shedding schedule and to continue the nonstop power supply to industrial areas. However, at present, the gas supply from SSGC has dropped toa low level of 80 to 100 MMCFD. This has forced the power utility to enhance and expand load shedding plan. While the medium loss residential and commercial areas will see three cycles of 1.5 hours in 24 hours, the high loss localities will undergo three spells of load shedding each comprising two hours.
Group No. 1 of industrial areas will see load shedding for four hours, from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm, and the timing for Group No. 2 will be from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm.
