Chief Justice Lahore High Court Justice Ijaz Ahmed Chadhury has said that incidents like Karachi and Kharotabad would not be allowed to happen in Lahore, this he stated during the hearing of suo moto notice of the Nishtar Colony police encounter here on Tuesday.
While CJ Lahore High Court ordered to establish a commission in the supervision of Major (retd) Mubbashir Ullah to restrain the incidents of fake police encounters, adding that the police officers should not have powers to kill masses.
CJ Ijaz Ahmed Chaudhry heard the suo motto case about 22 years old Shahbaz Butt murdered in fake police encounter in Nishtar Colony, while Chief Secretary, Home Secretary and Inspector General of Police Punjab were also present in the court.
During the course of hearing, Justice Ijaz Chaudhry said that as panic was spread in the country over the killing of unarmed youth by Rangers personnel in Karachi, adding that Nishtar Colony police encounter spread the panic in entire Punjab.
CJ said that incidents like Karachi and Kharotabad would not be allowed to happen in Punjab and people should be saved from the fake police encounters; meanwhile Chief Justice LHC Ijaz Ahmed summoned the thorough report about the fake encounters occurred in Punjab.
Meanwhile IG Punjab Javed Iqbal said in his submitted reply that the case has been registered against the four officials of the police and DSP, Sub-Inspector and two constables have been arrested and inquiry against them is underway.
Ijaz Ahmed asked that how government appointed a person as CCPO Lahore who is famous for fake encounters and if government keeps in mind past of Ahmed Raza Tahir then his appointment on this important post was not possible.
The Court directed Punjab government that it should review the matter and some honest and competent officer should be appointed on this important post and
