Karachi : The delegation of Russian ‘JSC General Satellite Company’ expressed its interest for launching ‘Direct to Home’ (DTH) technology in Pakistan in a meeting with officials of Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) on Saturday.
DTH is opposite to cable TV system that gives individual residence the opportunity to receive satellite programming using an individual dish at home.Visiting delegation was headed by Mr. Sergey Dolgopolsky. Speaking to media and KCCI officials, he said his company wanted to set up DTH technology here as they were providing this service in Russia and to other countries in addition.“Pakistan has enormous potential for development, while any investment from the Russia here will certainly give social benefit to Pakistan,” he said, adding we expect KCCI to help us in launching andexpending our project.He said he was aware of the problems facing local companies in getting the license for DTH technology here. “But it does not mean that DTH cannot be launched here; we are hopeful that the solution to DTH license issuance will be hammered out”We are here for the investment that will also create jobs. We want KCCI to bring partners for us as the project is not possible without the cooperation of potential organizations, Mr. Sergey said.The project would, certainly, strengthen the bilateral relations between Pakistan and Russia, he said Senior Vice President KCCI, Talat Mehmood thanked the Russian delegation for visiting the Karachi Chambers.
