Pentagon considering providing drone technology to Pakistan: NATO commander

ISLAMABAD: Army Chief Gen Ashfaq Parvez Kiani has met NATO commander in Afghanistan Gen Patreaus and exchanged views on a set of issues including bilateral relations, war against terrorism, drone attacks and others.

According to US embassy Gen David Patreaus during his meeting with Gen Ashfaq Pervez Kayani discussed modalities to improve regional security and matters of common interests. This was the 6th visit of NATO ISAF commander to Pakistan. Earlier he had come to Pakistan on January, 31.
Defence sources told the military leadership stressed that drone attacks could affect partnership between the two countries in diverse fields and these have stirred provocation among people of Pakistan. Intelligence sharing would be further improved to deal with militants, they held.
During the meeting NATO commander said “we want to further bolster our cooperation with Pakistan and we are fully alive to the reservations and apprehensions of Pakistan. Pentagon is considering providing technology to Pakistan”.
