International Hockey optimism return to Pakistan this year : Asif Bajwa

Lahore : Pakistan Hockey Federation Secretary Asif Bajwa Tuesday expressed optimism that international hockey will return to the country this year.

“We are confident of resuming international hockey activities in Pakistan within this year,” he told newsmen. “We are in touch with many countries including India to visit Pakistan in near future. We aredeprived to stage international hockey events due to security concerns.
“Our efforts will bear productive results as International Hockey Federation is also supporting us. With FIH cooperation and willingness of  hockey playing nations we would be able to start international hockey.”

Bajwa said resuming Pak-India hockey series or visit of any other foreign team are two aspects on which PHF is seriously working on. “Problem we face is tight schedule of every country who have prior commitments planned for a year but hopefully we will be able to get someone to visit. Our first priority is Pak-India series in our country. If it is not possible then we will consider any neutral venue.” PPI
