LB system restored in whole Sindh

Sindh Governor Dr. Eshratul Ebad Khan has reintroduced the Local Body system in the whole province of Sindh, here on Monday.

Dr. Ishratul Ebad Khan has issued the Sindh Local Body Ordinance 2001, which would impose the local body system throughout the province and abolished the commissioner system in Sindh including Karachi and Hyderabad.
On this occasion, Provincial Minister for Local Government Agha Siraj Durrani, Provincial Information Minister Sharjeel Memon and Provincial Law Minister Ayaz Soomro were also present.
This ordinance bill will be presented in Sindh Assembly and it would be passed in 90 days.
Before this, the Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah had held consultation meeting with the leaders of Pakistan People’s Party Sindh and Provincial Ministers and it was concluded that there should be only one local system in the Sindh Province.
However, previously Pakistan People’s Party was keen interested to establish separate system for the urban and ruler areas of Sindh but PPP has been changed their decision within 24 hours.
On the other hand, MQM Chief Altaf Hussain has welcomed restoration of Local Government system of 2001, across the Sindh province.
Altaf Hussain in a statement issued from London said that this step would strengthen democracy besides improving the atmosphere of brotherhood in the province, adding that it would have positive impacts on the common man.
He paid tribute to the President, Prime Minister, Sindh Governor and Chief Minister on this bold decision.
Meanwhile, Altaf Hussain congratulated the masses of Sindh and said that the decision of restoration of local body system in Sindh would be milestone to empower the democracy in the country.
However, President Asif Ali Zardari had ordered to the Governor Sindh to enforce the Local Government system into the whole province of Sindh.
The governor has passed two ordinances in which one ordinance has abolished the Commissionerate system and another ordinance to reintroducing the local government in the whole province. SANA
