Membership of MPs not submitting asset details to be cancelled: Election Commission of Pakistan

Islamabad: Election Commission of Pakistan has informed Prime Minister’s Secretariat that the membership of the parliament of those Senators would be cancelled, who did not submit their detail of assets to ECP even after lapse of due date.

According to a private TV channel Election Commission had extended the date twice for declaration of their assets for the members of parliament but inspite of this almost 16 Senators could not present the particulars of their moveable and immoveable property.
Senators that concealed their wealth from Election Commission include Federal Ministers Rehman Malik, Dr. Abdul Hafeez Sheikh, Dr. Asim Hussain, leader of opposition in Upper House Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haidry , Senators Muhammad Ali Durrani, Maulana Gull Naseeb, Pervez Rashid, Ghulam Ali, Rehmat Ullah Kakar, Javed Ali Shah, Naseem Hussain Chattha, Abdul Ghafar Qureshi, Malik Rashid, Muhammad Humayun and Islam-ud-Din Sheikh.
The sources said that the Election Commission would take steps soon as per constitution to prevent these 16 member of parliaments form functioning as Senators. Online
