ISLAMABAD: National Assembly ( NA) session starting from September,
12 has become a test for NA speaker Dr Fehmida Mirza following the
recent statements given by her husband Zulfiqar Mirza and charge sheet

leave for a few weeks in the prevailing situation.
Well placed

from September 12 and Karachi incident and Dr Zulfiqar Mirza statements
will figure atop in the session.
Sources told this session
could prove very tough for Dr Fehmida Mirza as she would have to listen
to the speeches of NA members agaisnt her husband with high degree of
patience. MQM legaislators have evolved a policy to give statements
against Dr Zulfiqar Mirza in NA session.
However, sources told
Online that Dr Fehmida Mirza may not preside over this session of NA in
the wake of prevailing situation and take leave for a weeks to focus
her attention on relief and rehahabilitaiton work for flood affectees
in Badin.
Sources told a circle from PPP had raised question
mark over continuing her obligations as speaker by Dr Fehmida Mirza
after the recent statements of her husband Dr Zulfiqar Mirza but Asif
Ali Zardari rejected these question marks and directed her to continue
her responsibilities and not link them with Dr Zulfiqar Mirza matter.
When
contacted by Online, senior lawyer and senator SM Zafar said if some
personal matter of NA speaker is raised on NA forum and there may be
apprehension that speaker will not remain neutral then it is
responsibility of speaker to entrust the responsibility of conducting
assembly proceedings to deputy speaker. However no such restriction is
spelt out in the law or constitution. Online
