Senate body seeks report of Pak prisoners in Saudi jails

ISLAMABAD: Senate’s Standing Committee for Interior has sought details of the Pakistanis languishing in Saudi jails.
The committee has also sought reply from the Interior and Foreign Affairs ministries and other departments concerned regarding residences of the foreign envoys and presence of missions in the residential areas.

The committee is going to take up these issues tomorrow (Tuesday) in its meeting at the Parliament House. The senate body, has reportedly, inquired about the measures taken for the release of Pakistanis from the Saudi jails. The committee has sought the complete record of the cases and terms of imprisonment including those who are still waiting for trial in the Kingdom.
The committee has expressed its concerns over the fact that many Pakistanis despite completing their term are still in the jail and many of the released have gone missing.
Meanwhile, the Senate’s committee has sought details about the rented building taken by the foreign missions. Chief Commissioner Islamabad will submit a report before the meeting in this regard. The Senate’s body will also review the government measures regarding shifting of foreign missions from residential areas to the diplomatic enclave. Online
