Senate unanimously passes condolence resolution on demise of Nusrat

The Senate on Wednesday day passed a unanimous resolution condoling the sad demise of Begum Nusrat Bhutto and paying rich tributes to her services for the cause of democracy and rights of people.

The resolution moved by leader of the House Syed Nayyar Hussain Bukhari pointed out that she was an icon of democracy, champion of rights for oppressed and down trodden people and empowerment of women.
It said Nusrat Bhutto was a woman of substance and woman of many graces. She had a strong personality as a leader, mother and wife and served as a motivating force and source of strength not only for the family but also for the entire nation.
In the aftermath of partition in 1947, she engaged herself in the relief operation as young woman. She worked with devotion and struggled for democracy and rights of women despite all challenges including tragic loss of her husband, two sons and daughter.
A copy of the resolution would be sent to the family of Begum Nusrat Bhutto.
Meanwhile, the Senate began its 74th session in Islamabad on Wednesday with Farooq H. Naek in the chair.
The Chair announced a panel of presiding officers for the current session. Its members are Syed Tahir Hussain Mashhadi, Ilyas Ahmad Bilour and Begum Najma Hameed.
The newly elected Senator from Balochistan Mir Muhammad Ali Rind took oath as member of the House. SANA
