PAC expresses grave concern over extension in contractual service to an officer involved in NLC scam

ISLAMABAD: National Assembly (NA) Public Accounts Committee (PAC) has expressed grave concern over extension in service on contract basis granted by Prime Minster to Saeed ur Rehman member finance CDA who is involved in NLCA corruption scandal of billion of rupee.

During exclusive talks, Yasmin Rehman, acting chairperson of PAC said it was strange to note that the then chief finance officer of NLCA and now member finance CDA Saeed ur Rehman had been granted extension in his contractual service by Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani despite the fact he was found involved in billion of rupees NLCA corruption scandal. .
The inquiry committee in its report recommended to refer his case along with other three persons to NAB. Secretary cabinet was also directed to take action against him. .
She held committee would also ask the government to enact legislation in regard to appointments on contract basis so that such type of people could not be employed on contract basis.
She said Saeed ur Rehman was still a culprit in the eyes of PAC and the allegations against him had been confirmed in planning commission report. “We will take up this case at every cost”, she underlined.
PAC had also ordered for early initiation of proceedings against the 3 former military officers who are found involved in NLC scandal and in case of any negligence action will be taken against the respective ministries, she stated. Online
