PML-N demands Pak-US accords during Pervez Musharraf's rule be made public

The Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) has asked the government to disclose all defence and security agreements reached with the United States during the rule of former military ruler Pervez Musharraf, and seek approval of such documents from parliament.
"The agreements reached during the tenure of a dictator are creating doubts in the minds of people, and cannot continue in a democratic system," The News quoted PML-N spokesman Ahsan Iqbal, as saying.
He said that in the past, the US patronised dictators, and they made commitments and promises in return while compromising national security.
"A military dictator like Musharraf compromised national security and allowed the United States to use country's air bases, and also permitted them to launch drone attacks," said Iqbal.
On the other hand, Musharraf said that fake protest would be lodged against US drone attacks on Pakistani soil, he added.
Iqbal pointed out that such dramas of fake protests could not be successful in present day's diplomacy.
He also said that the PML-N is not against any institution, but wants that every institution should work within the ambit of the Constitution.
It is noteworthy that Musharraf had said last month that during his tenure, he kept ahead national interests for any sort of decision-making and never bowed down before foreign pressure.
Addressing the Pakistani community in Manchester, he also said that nine drone strikes were conducted during his regime that caused a few causalities, but during the last three years, approximately 150 drone attacks have been conducted annually, causing hundreds of causalities. (ANI)
