Cricket: Pakistan to set West Indies 427 runs to win 2nd test

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts — Pakistan captain Misbah-ul-Haq and opener Taufeeq Umar hit centuries Monday as West Indies was set a target of 427 to win the second test before the hosts lost an early wicket to reach 54-1 at tea on the fourth day.

Misbah's unbeaten 102 followed Taufeeq's 135 and enabled Pakistan to declare on 377-6 after lunch at Warner Park.
Pakistan fast bowler Tanvir Ahmed then ripped out the off stump of debutant Kraigg Brathwaite before he had scored to leave West Indies on 5-1.
Lendl Simmons (21 not out) and Darren Bravo (23 not out) put on an unbroken stand of 49 before the interval for West Indies, which leads 1-0 in the two-test series.
Simmons struck two fours off 49 balls while Bravo smacked two sixes off left-arm spinner Abdur Rehman in 41 balls.
Earlier, Taufeeq scored his fifth test hundred before being run out for 135, the only wicket to fall in the opening session as Pakistan added 118 runs to its overnight total of 202-3.
Taufeeq's innings lasted 7 hours, 22 minutes before being ended by West Indies captain Darren Sammy's direct hit from square leg as the batsman went for a single.
The 29-year-old left-hander struck 13 fours in 314 balls and put on a stand of 129 with Misbah, who dropped to his knees to give thanks after reaching his third test century.
Misbah, who struck 10 fours and two sixes off 141 deliveries, declared immediately after reaching three figures.
Umar Akmal helped provided momentum in a partnership of 62 off 8.1 overs with Misbah.
Akmal struck two sixes and a four in 30 off 25 balls before he was bowled by a big legspinner from Devendra Bishoo, who ended with 2-149.
Ravi Rampaul (1-87) claimed Mohammad Salman to a top-edged pull just before then declaration. AP
