ISLAMABAD: In order to repair the deteriorating ties, the US
Secretary of State Hillary Clinton Thursday called Minister for Foreign
Minister Hina Rabbani Khar and reaffirmed the US pledge to work with
Pakistan.
A Foreign Office statement on Clinton’s phone call
described the bilateral relations on a trajectory of improvement as
against the statements coming from the American high-ups that had
termed bilateral relations between the US and Pakistan as a huge
challenge. Only a week ago, FO spokesperson Tehmina Janjua had admitted
in her weekly briefing that bilateral relations were confronting
difficulties at the operational level.
“During the
tele-conversation, the two Foreign Ministers had a constructive
exchange of views on carrying forward the trajectory of bilateral
relations,” said the statement.
Both the leaders reiterated the
importance of US-Pakistan relations and agreed to work closely to
enhance mutually beneficial regional cooperation. Online
