6 persons including ex-PPP MNA killed in Karachi violence

KARACHI: Atleast six persons including former PPP assembly member were killed and about 25 were injured in the incident of firing and attacks with hand grenades in the localities of Liyari, Agra Taj Colony, Bhimpura, Spencer Hospital, Kharadar, Denso Hall, Achhi Qabar and Methadar.

According to details on the death of five youths in Liyari, the relatives of deceased alongwith other people staged a protest demonstration outside Chief Minister’s House by putting dead bodies at the main gate. On the occasion security measures taken by police were seem to be ineffective. The angry mob also pelted stones on water cannon due to which its glasses were shattered away.
Latter the Provincial Information Minister Sharjeel Memon held the successful round of talks with the protestors after which they dispersed peacefully. However the participants reached Liyari , some unknown miscreants not only opened firing on them but also attacked with hand grenades . Due to which five women were severely injured , which were shifted to Civil Hospital
In the meantime some unknown terrorist attacked the Spencer Eye Hospital compound with the hand grenades resulting a vehicle, rickshaw and motorbike parking there turned to ashes. The injured were rushed to Civil Hospital, where the relatives of wounded persons ruinated widow panes of the hospital.
Some people opened firing near Denso Hall due to which former MNA from PPP Waja Karam Dad alongwith a companion died. The premises of Shetal Das Apartments were also assaulted with hand grenades which caused nine injuries that were shifted to Civil Hospital , where a minor boy and small girl succumbed to injuries.
Firing also took place in the areas of Achi Qabar ,Methadar and Kharadar leving nine people wounded. The series of firing was going on till the last news came in. Although police and rangers were on patrolling but they did not dare to enter Liyari. Online
