KARACHI : Four people including a woman and two political activists were killed and four others injured in different firing incidents in metropolis on Monday, police said.In fist incident a man was gunned down by unidentified persons near Alladin Park in Gulistan-e-Johar area in the wee hours on Monday, police said.They said identity of the victim is yet to be ascertained. The body was taken to Civil Hospital Karachi for postmortem.The body was later moved to Edhi morgue.In another incident a man was injured when unidentified armed men opened fire on him in Lyari Hospitalin the limits of Chakiwara Police Station, police said.
A duty officer at Chakiwara Police Station ASI Latif said that two men fought over some issue in LyariHospital. An unidentified man pulled out his TT pistol and opened fire on Noman 20 son of Jalaluddin and managed to escape. The injured was shifted to the Civil Hospital for medical treatment. ASI added that Noman received twobullets in his leg and his condition was stated to be out of danger. In another incident an activist of Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) was killed and another injured in an armed attack in Orangi Town in the limits of Pakistan Bazar Police Station, police and party sources said.
Police said that unidentified armed men riding a bike opened indiscriminate firing on a hotel near a bus stop in Orangi Town number 15 and fled. As a result, Asghar, 53, and Ahmad, 30, received bullet injuries. Asghar died on the spot.
The body and injured were shifted to the Abbassi Shaheed Hospital. Deputy Information Secretary Pakistan Peoples’ Party Karachi Division Syed Sohail Abidi confirmed thatthe victim and injured were the activists of PPP and residents of same area. He said that the victim was the father-in-law of Asif, president of City Town area of PPP. Separately two people were shot at and injured while resisting a robbery bid near Civil Hospital in the limits of Eidgah Police Station on Monday evening, police said.Police said that unidentified bandits tried to loot a milk shop and when the owner of the shop offeredresistance, the bandits opened indiscriminate fire and fled. As a result the shop owner Asif son of Hyder and a rickshaw driver Ishaq son of Ibrahim received bullet injuries.They were shifted to the Civil Hospital for medical treatment. MLO at Civil Hospital Karachi Lala Mubarak said that Asif received two bullets while other injured driver received a single bullet in hisleg. He said that the conditions of both injured were stated to be out of danger.In yet another incident an activist of Muttahidda Qaumi Movement (MQM) was gunned down in Gulistan-e-Jauhar in the limits of Sachal Police Station, police said.A duty officer at Sachal Police Station said that unidentified armed men riding a bike fired multiple shots on Imran alias Immi near Rizawan Complex in Gulistan-e-Jauhar area and escaped. He died on the spot. The body was shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center for medico-legal formalities.The victim was the resident of same area. Tension gripped Gulistan-e-Jauhar area following the killingof MQM activist as unidentified armed men resorted to aerial firing forcing people to pull down the shutters. Unidentified miscreants also set on fire a bus of route P-3 in the same area.Separately a woman was found dead in Ranchore Lane in the limits of Eidgah Police Station, police said.They said that torture marks body of a woman packed in a gunny bag was found near KMC Workshop. It was
shifted to the Civil Hospital Karachi for medico-legal formalities.The identity of the victim was yet to be ascertained. Further probe was underway.
