LAHORE - Countrywide protest was held on Thursdayagainst the release of CIA gent and double murderer, Raymond Davis,on the appeal of the Jamaat e Islami chief, Syed Munawar Hasan.
Protest rallies and demonstrations were held in the federal andthe provincial capitals besides major cities and small towns as themasses looked shocked over this sudden sell out the national honourand prestige by the rulers and the secret agencies.
Meanwhile, the JI and the Tehrik e Insaaf (TI) have decided tohold joint protest against Raymond Davis's release from tomorrow.The decision was made in a telephonic contact between the JI chief,Syed Munawar Hasan and TI chief, Imran Khan on Thursday.
Accordingly, the joint demonstration in the Punjab capitaltomorrow, Friday will be led by Syed Munawar Hasan while the rallyat Rawalpindi on the same day will be led by Imran Khan.
Syed Munawar Hasan, while talking to different delegations atMansoora, said that the nation had lost confidence in the stateinstitutions including the armed forces. He said, the federal andthe Punjab governments, the Foreign and the Interior Ministries wereequally involved in this crime against the nation and the country.By releasing Raymond Davis, the rulers had placed Pakistan'ssolidarity and sovereignty as well as the nationIs life and propertyat the mercy of the US terrorists which had created a deep sense ofinsecurity among the masses.
He said the rulers' loyalty for the country and the nation hadalways been doubtful. but Raymond's release should also be an eyeopener for those who believed Nawaz Sharif was something differentfrom Zardari.
In such a situation, he said, the nation won't have any choiceexcept to rally under the JI banner to get rid of the US slaves.
Syed Munawar Hasan said, the nation was not ready to tolerate anymore the US agents and slaves, who did not even have the courage todemand Dr Aafia Siddiqui's release against Raymond. Veteran politician and JI deputy chief, Prof. Ghafoor Ahmed ledthe rally in Karachi, while the Peshawar rally was led by SirajulHaq. In the Punjab capital, the protest rally was addressed byAmirul Azeem and others. The protestors raised slogans againstRaymond Davis release.
Protest rallies were also taken out at Sargodha, Bahawalpur,Multan, Khushab, Rawalpindi and Attock.
